Josiah Loeman

Josiah Loeman learnt to ride at 8 years of age. He found riding the same horses each day to be boring. So he decided to train up green horses, just for the fun of it. This progressed to breaking in horses, both for himself and for other people. He was on the lookout for a new challenge, something exciting and different to do. So he decided to compete in the
Kaimanawa stallion challenge just for the fun of it.
The horse he got was known as Eastwood. He shortened the name to Woody.
The vet was able to geld him 10 days after the muster, and Josiah got a bit of a nasty surprise when the vet aged his stallion as being 18! But he decided to persevere with the challenge, despite Woody’s old age.
Woody has so far been taught to lead, tie up, pick up all four feet,
been in the float, been introduced to the saddle and blanket, lead
around different obstacles etc. He will be getting started under saddle in the very near future. Woody is a sensitive horse, but tries his hardest to understand what is wanted of him. He has never shown any dirt, and has been a pleasure to work with!
